PROFESSIONAL FORESTERS

                                                               Courtesy Alabama Forestry Commission

Universities in the Southeast graduate many well-trained natural resources professionals. These experts, working from universities, government agencies, companies and as private consultants provide top-quality advice and assistance to small forest owners.

"Foresters." In Working With Your Woodland, by Mollie Beattie, Charles Thompson, and Lynn Levine, p. 65-83. Hanover, N.H.: University of New England Press, 1993.
Describes services provided by foresters. Distinguishes the types of foresters (county, consulting, industrial, and extension) available and relates what each can do for the landowner.

"Foresters-Consulting." In The Real Yellow Pages: BellSouth Advertising and Publishing Corp., 1994.
The Yellow Pages of local telephone books, includes a list of private and industrial professionals who provide various consulting services to landowners.

A list of consulting foresters is also available from the Association of Consulting Foresters of America (Web site). The Association has an Alabama chapter in Opelika (334-745-7530). Some Albama foresters are listed in an online directory maintained by the Society of American Foresters (Web site). The Private Forest Management Team (Web site) is another good online source to find consulting foresters.

Roster of Registered Foresters. Montgomery, Ala. The Board. Published semi-annually. The Alabama State Board of Registration for Foresters ( Web site ), 513 Madison Avenue Montgomery, Alabama 36130. Phone (334) 353-3640
